UptimeRobot is one of the most popular uptime monitors, and for good reason: its free plan is generous and its paid plans check very often. If what you mostly need is a page your customers can visit during an outage, with incident updates and maintenance notices, Status Tiger may suit you better. This page sets out the differences honestly, including where UptimeRobot is the better pick.
Short answer: choose UptimeRobot for a large number of free monitors, 30-second or 15-second checks, SMS and voice alerts, and checks from several locations. Choose Status Tiger if you want the status page and incident communication to be the centre of the product, with 1-minute checks from $9 a month.

When UptimeRobot is the better choice
- You need lots of free monitors. 50 free monitors is five times Status Tiger's 10.
- You need checks faster than once a minute. UptimeRobot checks every 30 seconds on Team and every 15 seconds on Scale. Status Tiger's fastest interval is 1 minute.
- You want SMS or voice-call alerts. UptimeRobot includes SMS and voice credits on paid plans. Status Tiger has no SMS or voice alerts.
- You want checks from several locations. Status Tiger checks from a single region (AWS us-east-1), so it cannot confirm an outage from a second location.
When Status Tiger is the better choice
Your status page is the product
Every plan, including Free, has a hosted page at yourname.statustiger.com with components, incident updates and scheduled maintenance. Monitors linked to a component update the page on their own.
1-minute checks for $9
Starter checks 25 monitors every minute for $9 a month ($90 a year), with 3 status pages, 3 team seats, your own logo and no Status Tiger branding.
Teams with roles
Give people viewer, editor or admin access. Editors can run incidents and maintenance without being able to change page settings, API keys or the team.
PagerDuty and private pages
On Pro ($29 a month) a monitor going down opens a PagerDuty incident and recovery resolves it. You can also password-protect a status page for internal services.
Alerts go by email, Slack and Discord on every plan, plus custom webhooks. Pro adds the REST API and a custom domain such as status.yourcompany.com, which our team sets up for you.
How to switch from UptimeRobot
- 1. Sign up free at statustiger.com. No credit card.
- 2. Create your status page and add a component for each service your customers care about.
- 3. Add monitors for the URLs you watch in UptimeRobot (HTTP and HTTPS), and link each one to its component.
- 4. Connect alerts: email is on by default; add Slack, Discord, a webhook or (on Pro) PagerDuty, and press "Send test".
- 5. Run both side by side for a few days, then point customers to your new status page and cancel UptimeRobot.
